Calderstones Park

Calderstones Park

Calderstones is a stunning 94 acre family park in South Liverpool boasting woodland, lake and fields, and beautiful Japanese and old English gardens. Calderstones is a popular family spot and with so much for families to do, its easy to see why.

Go on a nature trail or hunt for mini beasts with a gentle stroll through the woodland and go on the hunt for the resident squirrels. Children will enjoy going on the hunt for something old, very old, as they go on a quest to find the 1000 year old oak tree! Why not go and feed the ducks on the lake? If you are really lucky, you may spot the Heron or observe the terrapins sunbathing on logs on the lake.

Visit the storybarn; an interactive story-centre for young people to explore, share and discover their love of books (Please see separate Clued in with kids listing).

Then its all aboard with a visit to the miniature railway. The railway is at the Harthill Road end of the park and runs every Sunday from 2pm, weather permitting. Rides are free, but donations are welcome.

The playground is suitable for toddlers and young children, with an adjacent wooded play area for older children with climbing frames.

During Summer months, children can enjoy a little play in the sand as there is often a seasonal Urban beach to visit.

After all that exploration and play, you may be in the mood for some refreshments. Why not visit the Reader café, offering breakfast, lunch, sandwiches, snacks, salads, soups and desserts, as well as two bookshelves full of books to enjoy while eating. Run by The Reader, the Ice Cream Parlour is next door to the Storybarn selling the very best selection of ice-cream and refreshments.

With so much to see and do for families, Calderstones Park makes for a great day out with kids in Liverpool.
