This dedicated Nature Reserve is made up of 39 acres of woodland and is open all year round. This natural habitat is home to a range of indigenous wildlife including bats, voles and foxes. You will also spot a grey squirrel or two if you embark on a nature trail. Don’t forget to keep your eyes and ears peeled for Kestrels, Sparrowhawks, Woodpeckers and Herons. There are also wildflowers including bluebells, buttercups and marsh orchids.

If there is any energy left, the old sunken rock garden may be a good spot for some rock climbing and for imaginations to run wild.

To help ensure that this day out remains a free activity for families, why not take a picnic and enjoy a little rest and relaxation in good company? You are even able to take the pooch on this dog friendly walk, just make sure that opportunists don’t nab your picnic! Childwall Abbey is also located nearby for a well deserved rest, drink and a bite to eat.
