Clocaenog Forest is located near to Ruthin and takes its name from the village of Clocaenog. It forms part of the much bigger Hiraethog Forest which consists of 15,000 acres of varying scenery including beautiful forest landscapes, open moorlands, rivers and lake.
You can start your walk from a number of locations and most of these are circular and range from gentle strolls to summit climbs with incredible views. The forest is ideal for a family bike ride due to miles of quiet forest roads.
To help keep the kids engaged you can download the Animal Puzzle Trail which makes your visit to the forest an educational one as your little nature detectives explore the woodland on the lookout for all sorts of critters, as they follow 12 clues and use their map to guide their way around the red trail.
One of the circular walks includes Rhyd y Gaseg Circular which includes a one and a quarter miles, 2 kilometres walk. This woodland walk reaches the riverside and passes two fords, an historic weir and a waterfall. There are plenty of walks available along side their directions if you follow the link below.
