Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre And Country Park has a range of heavy horses, and a selection of British animals and birdlife for families to admire. The farmyard animals include Shetland Ponies, Pigs and piglets, Hens, Ducks and Peacocks. There is also a range of other wildlife including Scottish Wild Cats, Otters, Polecats, Red Foxes, Red Deer, Birds of Prey and Game Birds, plus Lohmann Brown hens which run freely in the woodland area in the Holly Bush field.
Families can participate in the Nature Trail where they can meet horses from further afield and learn about the history of the Shire horse, from their role in carrying knights in armour, to the role of the horse in the modern day. The woodland area overs four and a half acres and offers an excellent space to explore.
The Lakeside Cafe serves a selection of light lunches and cream teas. Families are also welcome to bring their own picnic to sit and relax in one of the picturesque areas around the farm, or enjoy in the indoor picnic area.
