Blaenau Ffestiniog is a historic mining town in Wales, at the heart of Snowdonia National Park. The Ffestiniog Railway was originally built to transport slate from the quarries in Blaenau Ffestiniog but today, families can sit back and relax as they embark on a 13½-mile adventure from Blaenau Ffestiniog to the bustling harbour town of Porthmadog.
Travel just like the Victorians on these impressive, powerful, narrow gauge steam trains, descending down 700 feet from the mountains, and take you through the spectacular Welsh countryside where you will enjoy admiring the lakes, waterfalls and forests.
Your journey does not have to end in Porthmadog. Instead, why not connect with Snowdonia’s newest railway, The Welsh Highland Railway and enjoy a 25 mile journey to beneath the castle walls at Caernarfon.
Want to hear some good news? Not only do kids under three go free but one child up to the age of 16 travels for free with each adult 3rd class fare purchased. Dogs and bikes are also welcome.
All trains also offer buffet service at our seat.
So for a magical journey through the heart of Snowdonia, let the Ffestiniog And Welsh Highland Railways look after you.
