Llanfairfechan is a charming Victorian seaside town situated between the Carneddau mountains and the Menai Straits in Conwy County.
Just off the A55, Llanfairfechan’s long stretch of award winning sand and pebble beach is a perfect day out for families with young children keen to make a splash.
Llanfairfechan’s lengthy promenade runs along the coast and forms part of the North Wales Path. It takes in the picturesque Victorian multicoloured houses and Pavilion cafe, followed by the boating lake, now home to a family of swans, and numerous outdoor leisure facilities including tennis courts and football pitch. Water sports include Kayaking, sea fishing, kite surfing and wind surfing.
There is a children’s playground with paddling pool, swings and roundabout, a sensory garden and a skate park, just in case all that fresh sea air was not enough to tire out little legs. There’s also ample picnic areas, and a cycle path for a family bike ride. Barbecues are permitted which is ideal as after all that hard work exploring, we think you deserve a hot dog or burger as a treat.
Additional information: *Large free car park on the promenade. *Dog restrictions apply to parts of the beach over Summer. *Cycle path is wheelchair and pram user friendly but there are steps onto the beach. *Sensory garden is at a good height for wheelchair users and toddlers in prams to see and touch the plants.
