New Brighton Beach is located on the North-West corner of the Wirral Peninsula and has had a fresh new facelift, becoming a hub for family friendly activity. The beach is made up of fine, golden sand, offering a perfect ¾ mile stretch of beach for families to build sandcastles, go for a paddle, and stroll along the promenade with your fish and chips whilst watching the ships sail out from the Mersey estuary into the Irish sea.
Teach the kids how to catch crabs with a spot of crabbing, explore the ecosystems in rock pools and much more! With lifeguards on duty throughout the day, parents and carers can be a little more at ease about allowing the kids to have a little splash about.
Let imaginations run wild with a play on the Black Pearl Pirate ship, built by community volunteers using driftwood from the beach. Parents and carers can enjoy an ice cream with the impressive skyline of Liverpool in the background. Whilst here, don’t forget to stroll around Vale Park and watch children glee with delight with a trip to the Fairy Glen.
Have fun on the nearby amusements and fairground rides which are suitable for toddlers right up to teenagers. Rides include dodgems, circus train, tea cups and white knuckle rides. Burn off some energy in the impressive soft play centre located near to Marine Point, particularly handy if the weather decides to take a turn for the worse. Play a round of crazy golf, treat the family to a game of bowling, enjoy an action packed game of laser quest, or for a more relaxing experience, enjoy a performance at the Floral Pavilion or watch a family friendly film at the cinema.
Not far from Marine lake, be impressed by dominating Fort Perch Rock, previously a defence installation but now home to a number of permanent maritime and aviation based museum displays and cultural events. Wander up to New Brighton lighthouse, known locally as Perch Rock lighthouse. Access to the lighthouse is by prior arrangement only but children will enjoy a walk to this picturesque spot, climbing the rocks nearby.
After all that exploring and family fun, enjoy a meal at one of the fine restaurants on Marine point. Enjoy a family meal the Italian way, or head to a budget friendly pub. Marino Lounge is the perfect place to stop for a bite if with your canine friend.
As you can see New Brighton beach makes a fantastic budget friendly day out with the kids in Wirral, come rain or shine, with a range of activities suitable for the whole family.
* There have been occasional reports of walkers who walk far out on the wet sand at low tide getting into trouble with mud/quicksand. It is therefore best to stay close to the main beach area.
*An abundance of cafes and restaurants.
