Developed on the remains of a former railway coal yard, New Ferry Butterfly Park is an urban nature reserve and provides an excellent choice for families who are looking for things to do with kids in Wirral.

During Spring and Summer months, families can explore this 2 hectare reserve each Sunday from the beginning of May to the second week in September. Throughout the Autumn and Winter months, the park is open to families on the second Sunday of each month.

The park has put the areas industrial past to good use, providing a tranquil haven for 26 species of butterfly (at last count), with 18 species actually breeding on the site.

There is a picnic area and the butterfly park is easily accessible by public transport. Best of all a visit here is free. Therefore, when looking for days out with kids in Wirral on a budget, New Ferry Butterfly Park could be the answer.
