RSPB Lake Vyrnwy

RSPB Lake Vyrnwy

Built in the 1880s to supply Liverpool with fresh water, Lake Vyrnwy is a reservoir in Powys, Wales. Visitors to the lake can explore all of the different wildlife that frequent this area and who knows, maybe you will be lucky and even spot a hunting peregrine.

Explore the natural habitats and discuss why certain creatures call this area home. Take in the stunning views of the lake, surrounding hills and woodlands, and in the Autumn months, why not enjoy a leaf-crunching walk in the woods?

Lake Vyrnwy hosts family events too, from bat and owl walks to farm fun days. There are special trails for children, including a nestbox trail, an ever-growing sculpture park trail and the exciting natural play area with den building, slide, balance beams over a stream and mud kitchen.

Enjoy a day out with the kids in North Wales on a budget as access to RSPB Lake Vyrnwy is completely free. Therefore, take a picnic and soak up the amazing picturesque surroundings that Wales has to offer.
