St George’s Hall, Liverpool

St George’s Hall, Liverpool

Situated opposite Lime Street station, St George’s Hall provides a magnificent welcome to Liverpool, reflecting the pride and passion of the Victorians who built this landmark venue. Of course, children will instantly recognise this Neoclassical building as the building which featured in Fantastic beasts and where to find them. They may even be lucky and be able to conjure up a ticket to attend an event such as a Harry Potter themed brunch on November 23rd, 2019.

The Hall can rightly claim to be the emotional heart of the region; it has been the spontaneous gathering place for the people of Liverpool in times of celebration, vigils, and commemorations. Important moments happen here, moments following the deaths of the Beatles John Lennon and George Harrison; the homecomings of Liverpool and Everton football teams after Cup Final victories; the Peoples’ Opening of our European Capital of Culture celebrations in 2008, when Ringo Starr played from the roof of the building to over 50,000 people and more!

Family friendly events are subject to change but have recently included Storytime with Santa, Chamber of horrors at Halloween, TV and film tours, and Footman tours at St George’s Hall where children can explore the nooks and crannies of the hall that aren’t normally open to the public.

Additional information:
*Visitor Centre is closed on Sundays and bank holidays.
*The museum has no entrance fee but some of the exhibitions and the tours do incur a charge.
