Tate Liverpool has an extensive collection of both British and International art, and caters for those with more modern and contemporary tastes.
There are a range of free family events and activities. Children can try out some hands on activities and learn some new techniques. They can explore artworks from Tate’s displays. Blast off into the gallery with a free rocket backpack! Become an explorer and play a spot game around the building. Designed to help young children and their adults explore the Constellations display together, the backpacks include a number of artistic activities.
Don’t forget to express yourselves in the free family space. Families can design colourful patterns on the magnetic board, play in the zig-zag dens and arrange objects on the pegboard into bright and interesting patterns! Step into the green screen and create your own art-inspired environment.
Children with additional needs are also catered for. On the second Saturday of each month, children with additional needs can attend Tate in a calmer environment where small changes are made by staff to ensure the gallery is more comfortable, helping youngsters to have a more enjoyable visit.
It is free to visit Tate Liverpool and children under the age of 16 years old also don’t pay the small additional charge adults pay for the special exhibitions.
Free and special exhibitions are updated routinely so families won’t repeatedly see the same thing twice!
What’s even better is that kids can eat for free in the Café when an accompanying adult buys a main course from the seasonal menu. This makes for a great day out with the kids in Liverpool on a budget.
