Situated on the waterfront in MediacityUK, The Lowry is committed to using visual and performing arts to enrich people’s lives.
For a family day out in Manchester, enjoy a diverse programme of theatre, opera, musicals, dance, music, comedy and visual art and family activities. During holidays, many of these family activities are free and there is a range drop-in workshops to inspire the whole family.
Enjoy a free Family Building Tour which runs on the last Sunday of every month and Bank Holiday Mondays, or pick up a free Hide and seek trail and enjoy an adventure peering into all the nooks and crannies of the Lowry’s impressive building. Trails are updated and changed regularly. Don’t forget the free daily talk to learn about the works of LS Lowry.
The Lowry also has a large and bright open space for children to relax, unwind, and showcase their creativity with a range of arts and craft facilities. Simply head to The Carol Nash Lookout and let your budding artists utilise the space in any way they see fit.
The exhibitions are a great way to spend a rainy day with kids or if you want a respite from the sun’s heat. However, if the weather is favorable, its worth admiring the views of Manchester’s Ship Canal and enjoy the sun-trap known as the Waterside Terrace for a bite to eat and drink. There are also other places to grab some lunch and of course there is also a children’s menu.
