A trip to Copenhagen may be a tad far. Fortunately here on the Wirral families can experience an enchanting trek to see some magical creatures a little closer to home, complete with their own folk tale.
Inspired by the Black Rock Mermaid who allegedly appeared to a sailor in New Brighton back in the 1700’s, six colourful creations have magically appeared in New Brighton, courtesy of local artists and school groups. The mermaid trail adds to the joy of walking with the kids and is great fun. Mermaids can be found in the following locations:
The trail is free and the perfect accompaniment to a gentle stroll on the prom. Whilst in the area perhaps you could go crabbing off the pier or enjoy a visit to Vale Park and Fairy Village.
Additional information: *The mermaids are a little spread out for really tiny feet so be prepared that you may not complete the story with pre-schoolers. *Trail accessible for pram and wheelchair users.
