One of the finest art galleries in Europe, the Walker Art Gallery is home to renaissance masterpieces, Tudor portraits and one of the best collections of Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite art in the country. For 130 years it has housed Liverpool’s most outstanding art collection. Many of the gallery’s most important works have been on display in the city for nearly 200 years.
The Big Art for Little Artists gallery on the ground floor is designed specially for children and is very popular. This gallery is ideal for children up to and including the age of eight to introduce children to art. Choose from a selection of books, listen to audio books, play with puppets and create their own stories, create your own art, dress up as characters from the Walker’s paintings, pose on a throne, chill out in our mood room where you can explore sounds associated with colour etc, and much more”

Walker Art Gallery, want to help encourage children to develop their language and literacy skills and create a love of reading through their new Storywalkers education sessions. The programme of free activities features stories, songs and art for early years children. Storywalkers is a collection of events linked to language and literacy for children up to seven years old to encourage early communication, physical development, language and literacy skills, as well as encouraging a love of reading, writing and art.
