All aboard? Get set for a day out with kids in Lancashire with a difference. West Lancashire Light Railway is a short 2ft-gauge passenger line located between Southport and Preston. Explore the heritage of the railway with locomotives, wagons and other equipment from long-gone industrial sites in Lancashire, other parts of the UK and overseas.
Go for a ride on the steam trains (Sundays and bank Holiday Monday’s only). Grab your ticket and ride the 400m track as many times as you like. Choo Choo around a flooded clay pit located behind coal fired steam locomotives which date from 1903. Alternatively, pop along to one of the special event days, including Easter Egg Hunts, Galas, Teddy Bears’ Outings and Santa Specials.
Adults can even take the controls and invite their family and friends along for a ride on one of the driver experience sessions.
