Join us for a fun day of volunteering for all the family at our Marshside reserve in Southport, Merseyside. Tasks will vary from helping us save nature on the reserve, to looking after our two legged visitors too.
We have morning sessions 10am – 12noon and afternoon sessions 1-3pm. Meet at our car park.
The theme changes each time:
– Sunday 14 April – Love My Marsh Clean Up: Help us clear rubbish off the marsh that’s been brought in by the spring high tides.
– Sunday 14 July – Help refresh and preserve the reserve’s viewing screens with a lick of paint (water based, non-toxic, wood treatment used).
– Sunday 6 October – Raking up vegetation. Help us clear areas of cut bramble and scrubby vegetation to encourage our banks to become grassier and better for small animals like field voles and bank voles to live.
– Sunday 26 January – Love My Marsh Clean Up: Help us clear rubbish off the marsh that’s bee bought in by the high winter tides.
Tools, gloves and training will always be provided on the day.
Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear as this is an exposed site and can be muddy where we are working.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Unfortunately these activities are not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs and we recommend children be over 5 years of age. No dogs please.
Car parking charges apply to non-members from summer 2019. No additional charges for the event.
Please call the Ribble Discovery centre to book as places are limited – 01253 796292
