Sessions usually run the first Saturday of every month….
A programme full of fun and learning outdoors offering a balanced mix of play, environmental learning , forest school and some bushcraft skills.
Family Forest School is suitable for everybody, children, young people and adults.
The monthly Saturday group incorporates tool use, fire lighting, cooking, nature games, survival and bushcraft skills along with a snack, drink and toasted marshmallows.
This fun way of learning about the outdoors develops and improves self confidence and self esteem and gives children and families the opportunity to play out in nature while learning some valuable and transferable skills. It’s quality time outdoors together: sharing and learning together and having fun.
There will often be something to take home, whether a whittled knife, a home made woodland artefact, a musical instrument or a piece of environmental art.
This is play in the woods as a family but also a bit more structured as people come regularly and build up skills and increase their understanding of nature over a period of time. We still pack in a fair bit of outdoor play, though.
Family Forest School runs right throughout the year, giving us great opportunities to notice and explore the changing seasons. The sessions are drop in but need to be pre-booked with only 24 hours notice.
A typical programme over a period of weeks might look something like this, but it depends on the season, the weather, and the group.
