LEAF Open Farm Sunday

LEAF Open Farm Sunday

Believe it or not, as a young child I used to live on a Cheshire farm near to Tattenhall. I still remember feeding the lambs to this day and even had my favourite cow whom I would eagerly wait for by the gate each evening. Needless to say, when we learnt about Open Farm Sunday we were very excited by the prospect of taking our daughter to sample farm life for herself.

LEAF Open farm Sunday offers a great family day out as hundreds of farms throughout the UK will open their gates for free on the 9th June 2019. LEAF Open Farm Sunday is an annual open day, providing families with the opportunity to explore real working farms and learn all about farming first hand. Where does our food come from?  Why is British farming so important? How should the animals be cared for?

Interesting discussions about farming practices await as young families can learn all about the farming industry behind the scenes, meet a whole host of different animals, enjoy some fresh air as they embark on a trail or two, and perhaps even have a go at milking a cow, have a go at axe throwing, or go pond dipping. Each farm will offer a slightly different experience as each farm can showcase their own specialities, ensuring that activities on offer will cater perfectly to their visitors.

Below is a list of the farms involved in Open Farm Sunday, along with their activities. Of course there will be plenty of specialist tasty farm treats available to purchase too.
