Three ingredient American Pancakes – Easy kids recipes

This recipe is super easy and a great way of getting kids involved in cooking from scratch.
We took inspiration from Jamie Oliver who helps his son Buddy prepare short video clips encouraging the kids to cook from scratch. Please click the link at the end of this post to be taken to his web page for more inspiration.

All you need is:
1 cup of self raising flour
1 cup of milk
1 egg

1. Simply add the flour, milk and egg into a large bowl and whisk.
2. In a pan, melt a knob of butter and pour your pancake mix (we used a high heat).
3. When the pancake starts to crispen on the bottom and bubble on the top it’s time to flip it over.

Serving suggestion

We served alongside a selection of fruit, yogurt, honey and pain au chocolat (which we burnt hence the sprinkling of icing sugar to hide it)!

The verdict...

Pancakes were light and fluffy and considering its only 3 ingredients, tasted great! We must admit we did not expect them to be so moreish.

They were really quick and easy to create and a great way of teaching the kids how to cook from scratch and avoid processed foods (we give ours far too many). The kids could get involved really easily and they sat there in silence after getting excited about what to choose for their breakfast buffet from the selection of goodies.

Cook with Buddy

The TV programme Cook with Buddy is really engaging for the kids to watch. Ours love it. There are loads of fantastic, nutritious and easy to follow recipes alongside a little humour from Buddy. If you have not watched the series before, its worth a go. If you want to visit Jamies website for recipe ideas, please visit click here.
